Fitting the Bill

This programme is designed for people who want a career in the New Zealand Police, Armed Forces (Army, Navy & Air Force) or Fire Service. We will help provide an understanding of the rigorous selection tests, assist with the recruitment process and start a career in these industries.

Programme content includes

NZQA Unit Standards in literacy and numeracy or towards a National Certificate in Educational Achievement
English and Maths
Fitness Training and Swimming
Typing and Word Processing
Understanding of Verbal Analogies, Abstract Reasoning and Numerical Reasoning
Physical Endurance
Field Studies
Employability Skills
Interview and Communication Skills
Personal Presentation
Customer Service Skills
Industry and Related Knowledge
Event Supervision
Cultural Awareness
Up to date CV stored on a secure database for future updates

Students will also have the opportunity to gain

First Aid
Drivers Licence

There will be tutor led sessions, group and individual work involved.

Special conditions apply

Students need to have no criminal convictions and be able to pass a medical certificate. For the New Zealand Police and Armed Forces, a student must have or be able to get a full car driver licence and for the New Zealand Fire Service, a student must hold a full car driver licence for at least two years.
