Mahi Taapoi - Hospitality

The objective of this programme is to provide particpants with a range of skills in the hospitality industry.  This will provide learners with an insignt into the different opportunities available in this busy and highly competitive industry.

This programme has a strong focus on preparing participants for employment in Northland and beyond, by staircasing into advanced qualifications.  We will help work out a plan for the future, increase confidence, learn a variety of practical skills and work towards the National Certificate in Educational Achievement.

This National Certificate provides particpants with a foundation knowledge and skills for the Hospitality industry with other practical components that will assist learners to pathway into similar higher level qualifications and a career.

HSI Unit Standards towards a National Certificate
Barista Skills 
Functions and Events experience 
Customer Service techniques 
Basic Table Service 
Food Safety 
Industry and Related Knowledge 
Basic Cafe Service 
Tourism in the Northern Region 
Up to date CV stored on a secure database for future updates

Students will also have the opportunity to gain

Drivers Licence

There will be tutor led sessions, group and individual work involved.

This programme is available at the Whangarei and Kaikohe campus.
