Early Childhood Education Level 3

This programme will provide you essential knowledge and skills so that you can care for and educate infants, toddlers and children in an early childhood setting.  At the end of the programme, you will have the introductory skills and knowledge to work in an entry-level carer role in a range of early childhood contexts, such as centre-based, home-based, hospital-based, parent-led, or culturally-based environments.   

PROGRAMME CONTENT INCLUDES:

  • Knowledge of children’s learning and development
  • The nature of the New Zealand early childhood curriculum framework – Te Whāriki
  • Understanding ECE services and the philosophies that inform care
  • Professional and ethical behaviour
  • Developing your own culturally responsive practice
  • Contributing effectively to the care of infants, toddlers and young children
  • Developing respectful relationships and communication skills
  • Te Reo & Tikanga Maori in the ECE environment
  • Understanding legislation, regulations, community, and government services
  • Up to date CV stored on a secure database for future updates

QUALIFICATIONS AVAILABLE:

New Zealand Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Care Level 3

ENTRY CRITERIA:

All students who wish to enrol must go through a selection interview process. Participants who meet the criteria below are able to take part in these programmes:

  • Commitment to completing the qualifications
  • Commitment to move to higher level education on completion of the programme

Monday to Thursday: 8:45am - 4:00pm Friday: 8:45am - 1:00pm Also includes placement in a centre which will include varied hours.
